The Mystery of God.

Revelation 10:7 KJV
[7] But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
Those who have studied revelation chapter 10 will be familiar with the events mentioned there, Noteably the little book that was sweet in the mouth and bitter in the belly.
So we know that the time covered speaks of 1844 and the great disapointment. But connected with this is the Mystery of God which shall be finished in those days.
What is that Mystery?
Ephesians 3:1-5 KJV
[1] For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, [2] If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: [3] How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, [4] Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) [5] Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Does doing your own thing, does it really make you happy?

I was pondering today while doing the ironing the whole “do what thou wilt” philosophy that Aleister Crowley advocated and how it has morphed into the current zeitgeist. Do your own thing, do what you want, all these are the principals that underlying current culture.

At face value they may appear to offer happiness, joy and pleasure. But do they actually deliver?

This school of thought gives rise to an uncontrolled appetite. And by appetite, I don’t merely mean for food. Continue reading

A Quick Thought On The End Of The World

I was contemplating the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD this morning and another parallel with the end of the world occurred to me.

For seven years a man continued to go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, declaring the woes that were to come upon the city. By day and by night he chanted the wild dirge, “A voice from the east; a voice from the west; a voice from the four winds; a voice against Jerusalem and the temple; a voice against the bridegroom and the bride; and a voice against all the people.” This strange being was imprisoned and scourged; but no complaint escaped his lips. To insult and abuse he answered only, “Woe to Jerusalem! woe, woe to the inhabitants thereof!” His warning cry ceased not until he was slain in the siege he had foretold. {GC88 30.3}
